Woman who tore husband’s passport was creating content — Immigration

The Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Edo State Command, Mr Martins Monyei, has confirmed that the woman who was alleged to have torn her husband’s passport on arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, was only creating content. He said that investigation revealed that her husband’s passport, the woman’s passport and that of her two children were intact.

Monyei made the clarification during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, led by its chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe.

He said, “It was a tug of war for us because the information came from our headquarters; they were trailing her. They initially said she was from Benin City, Edo State. So, l sent my men to lay surveillance. Before we knew it, she had crossed to Agbor in Delta State. Eventually, we tracked her to Agbor, and we kept her in safe custody. It was just yesterday that we flew her to Abuja.

“Honestly, it was like a comedy. She said she was creating content and that her husband’s passport was intact. She presented her husband’s passport, her own and her two kids’. She said she did not tear any passport, emphasizing her claim of ‘creating content’, she even put it into writing.
