The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has explained the reason behind the “No Result Yet” message being displayed to some candidates checking their 2026 UTME results.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the board said the development largely affects underage candidates whose results are yet to be processed and released.
“Results for underage candidates have not been released. When such candidates attempt to check their results, the system will return the message ‘No Result Yet,’” JAMB stated.
The board reiterated that candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, to qualify for the examination.

“As stipulated by regulation, only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by 30th September 2026 are eligible,” it added.
JAMB, however, acknowledged that a narrow window exists for exceptionally gifted candidates, but stressed that such cases must meet clearly defined benchmarks.
“Underage candidates may be considered under the exceptional category, provided they demonstrate outstanding ability by scoring 320 and above in the UTME and attaining at least 80% in subsequent screening stages,” the board explained.
It further noted that only candidates who meet the 320 cut-off will be shortlisted for the next phase of assessment, in line with prior agreements with parents.
For now, JAMB maintained that the affected results will remain withheld until the screening process for exceptional candidates is concluded.
