In a twist that shocked many fans, South African breakout star Tyla was missing from the rankings despite dominating award stages and bagging multiple international wins within the year.

Spotify also unveiled its Top 5 Afrobeats Artistes in Latin America, with Nigerian acts completely dominating the chart. Rema led the pack, followed by Ayra Starr and CKay in second and third positions, while global superstars Burna Boy and Wizkid claimed fourth and fifth places, respectively.
