The Awolowo family has announced the burial plans of the late grandson of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Olusegun Awolowo who died on Thursday November 20, 2025, aged 62.
In a notification of funeral obsequies signed by his son, Oluwasegun Awolowo III, the former executive director and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) will be buried on Friday, 5th December after a funeral service at Our Saviour’s Church, Lagos.
This will be preceded by Night of Tributes on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Harbour Point, 4 Wilmot Point Road, Victoria Island, by 4.00p.m., and wake keep on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the same venue.

The late Segun Awolowo, a lawyer, was the executive director and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) between 2013 and 2022.
In July 2021, he was unanimously elected president of the National Trade Promotion Organisations (TPOs) from ECOWAS member states.
In 2023, the late former President Muhammadu Buhari approved Awolowo’s appointment as secretary of the national action committee on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

With the deepest respect and profound sorrow, the family of the late Mr. Olusegun Awolowo hereby announce his passing unto glory.
Fondly called Segun by family and friends, he lived a life defined by purpose, character, and service. A devoted son, brother, loving husband, father, and grandfather, he embodied the values of integrity, intellectual clarity, and unwavering commitment to community upliftment that have long defined the Awolowo lineage. As the grandson of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he carried that heritage with quiet dignity and resolute dedication.
His departure leaves a deep void not only within his family but also among colleagues, friends, and countless others whose lives were touched by his generosity, intellect, and compassion.
