American music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, has received a new projected release date from federal prison, with authorities moving his expected release forward by more than two months.
According to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Combs, who is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, is now scheduled to be released on February 23, 2028. His previous projected release date had been April 25, 2028.
The BOP declined to explain the specific reason behind the adjustment, stating that it does not discuss “the conditions of confinement for any individual, including release plans.” However, the agency noted that release dates can change for several reasons, including good conduct time, credits earned through approved programmes and activities, and credit for time served before sentencing.
The revised date marks at least the second adjustment to Combs’ projected release schedule in recent months. A previous update had pushed his release into June 2028, shortly after a representative for the former Bad Boy Records founder denied reports alleging that he had created and consumed alcohol while incarcerated.
Before his original sentencing, Combs wrote to the court saying he had become sober “for the first time in 25 years,” adding that he had been attending therapy sessions and had launched a mentorship initiative for fellow inmates.
The music executive was convicted in a federal case on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution involving two former girlfriends — Casandra Ventura, widely known as Cassie, and a woman identified in court documents only as “Jane” — as well as sex workers transported for the purpose of prostitution.
Despite the conviction, Combs has continued to deny allegations of sexual misconduct. His legal team is pursuing an appeal in an effort to overturn the verdict.
In addition to the criminal case, Combs is facing more than 70 civil lawsuits across the United States. One of the most recent complaints, filed on June 9, was brought by a former child actor.
The latest adjustment to his release date means that, barring further changes or a successful appeal, Combs is expected to remain in federal custody until early 2028.
