A retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Isiagu Joseph, has accused a serving police inspector of assaulting and humiliating him for operating a commercial bus known as Korope in Lagos.
Joseph said the incident happened on January 8, 2026, at a bus stop around the Alausa Secretariat area, where the inspector allegedly insulted and beat him, describing it as “an insult to the force” for a retired CSP to be driving a Korope.
According to the retired officer, the inspector, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, has a history of aggressive conduct, claiming he had previously blocked and verbally abused him on several occasions.
Joseph said he presented his police identity card in an attempt to defuse the situation, but the inspector allegedly ordered other officers at the scene to remove the number plate from his vehicle.
He further alleged that the team physically assaulted him, dragged him out of the bus, and seized his keys.
Joseph said he reported the matter at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, but lamented that the inspector has not been identified or sanctioned.
He called on the police authorities to take disciplinary action, insisting that his pension is not enough to cater for his family, forcing him to operate the commercial bus as a means of survival.
