Redemption is not the price. The blood of Jesus is the price. Redemption is accomplished when the price was paid. The shed blood of Christ is the price for redemption. When the blood was shed, redemption was accomplished. The consequence of redemption is the forgiveness of sin. Any doctrine that omits this, strikes at the heart of the faith. There is no fellowship for whom these things are not vital to.

Redemption is secured through the shedding of the blood. Those who are redeemed are forgiven. Redemption is secured by the shedding of the blood. When Christ blood was shed, the essential work was done

Ephesians 1:7 KJV

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Redemption is what the price has secured, meaning price paid.

Any doctrine that omits this or despises this should be avoided.

Colossians 1:14 KJV

…in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

This and this alone gives a lawful title to forgive sins

Hebrew 9:12 KJV

…neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The redemption he obtained with His blood is eternal. When the price was paid, the purchase was obtained. Which purchase? Forgiveness of sin. It became effectual upon the shedding of the blood.

Hebrew 9:12

He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].

When someone is redeemed, they have everlasting forgiveness of sin.

Matthew 26:28 AMPC

For this is My blood of the new covenant, which [ratifies the agreement and] is being poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. [Exod. 24:6-8.]

This concept is called redemption and it is for forgiveness of sin. His blood makes it effectual. When the price was paid, the purchase was obtained upon payment. If it wasn’t obtained then what is the value of the currency which is blood of Jesus? The price acquired the possession when the payment was made. Redemption secured the forgiveness of sinners when the blood was shed. The shedding of the blood of Christ is not conditional on anything. The blood actually blots out your sins and secures your salvation. When the blood was shed, the work is finished. Redemption is not the price; the blood of Jesus is the price.

What does it mean to come to Jesus?

Hebrews 12:24 NLT

You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

The blood of Jesus speaks of forgiveness, an eternal redemption. Many pay lip service to the blood but very few will come to the blood as the mediator of the new covenant. The surety and the guarantor.

Hebrews 13:20 NLT

Now may the God of peace— who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—

1 Peter 1:18

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,

This shows the efficacy of the blood of Jesus. It is not silver and gold your redeemed with. People have a lot of value for gold but it is perishable. It is for a time. God used the blood of His son to redeem us.

The empty way of life is the law

Galatians 3:13 NIV

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.

Christ redeemed us from the consequences of violating the law. Meaning He paid the price so that you don’t suffer the consequences of the law. This is what is called redemption.

Someone who is redeemed is redeemed from the curse of the law

Job 19:25 NIV

I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.

Job 19:26 NIV

And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;

The skin being destroyed here means death. He will see God because of redemption. My redeemer liveth and He paid the price. Eternal forgiveness is linked to the redeemer.
