The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, on Monday, predicted that President Bola Tinubu will be defeated in the 2027 presidential election.

According to the renowned cleric, monetary inducements and food distribution will not secure victory for President Tinubu.

Speaking during a church service in Lagos, Primate Ayodele threw his weight behind recent comments by Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, who had criticised the Tinubu administration over the country’s socio-economic challenges.

Ayodele said Nigerians were grappling with widespread hardship and frustration, urging critics to allow Onaiyekan to express his views because the cardinal was speaking the truth.

The cleric also suggested that some Pentecostal leaders had failed to deliver similar frank messages to the President.

“This is what I expected all these babas of faith; I don’t want to mention their names because it’s not sounding right before God.

“I give it to Archbishop Onaiyekan for what he has said to the president. Leave him; if Tinubu likes, let him take it or not, but there is anger and hunger in the land.

“By the election, you will see how people will show their grievances. Rice and money will not stop it. We are telling you to do the right thing. All these surrogate aides will push you into a fire that will burn you. Tinubu will lose this election,” he said.

Ayodele’s remarks come amid increasing public debate over the country’s economic conditions and political outlook ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His prediction adds to the growing chorus of voices commenting on the political landscape, although the outcome of the election will ultimately be determined by Nigerian voters.
