Shock and grief have enveloped residents of the Onigbara River community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, following the alleged killing of a man by his own brother during a heated dispute.
The suspect, identified simply as Daniel, is accused of fatally attacking his brother, Emmanuel, on Monday evening after an altercation spiralled out of control.
The motive behind the deadly confrontation remains unclear, leaving residents in stunned silence.
“We still don’t understand what exactly happened between them. It’s shocking that a quarrel could end like this,” a resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Sources revealed that both men were sons of a community police officer popularly known in the area as “Awilo,” further deepening the emotional impact of the tragedy.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the case had been escalated to ensure a thorough probe.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for in-depth investigation,” Ayanlade told NAN by phone.
The killing has cast a pall of sorrow over the Onigbara River area, with residents calling for justice and answers in the wake of the shocking fratricide.
