The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged shooting of skit maker and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggy, in the Sango-Ota area of the state.
The incident happened last Sunday afternoon while he was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge.
While the circumstances leading to the incident remain sketchy, a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the social media influencer sustained a gunshot injury in the process.
The command, however, stated that it could not confirm whether the incident occurred within Ogun State.
In a brief statement sent to the media on Friday, its spokesman, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while the investigation continues.
“For the sake of clarity, the command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggy was shot anywhere within Ogun State. Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced.
“Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that no report was made to the police by the victim’s team since the incident occurred.
The source, who gave an account of what happened after the incident, said on Thursday that Broda Shaggy was immediately rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he was initially admitted and attended to.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have information yet on how it happened, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital,” the source disclosed.

The source added that upon arriving at the hospital, the medical staff immediately administered first aid to him.
However, further findings revealed that he was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area, Ikeja, where he is currently recuperating.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesman, Abimbola Adebisi, while confirming the incident on Thursday, said the police were alerted by a hospital about a gunshot victim in their facility.
She said detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was Broda Shaggy
“He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” she added.
When contacted for a reaction, Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, otherwise known as Penzaar, said he was busy and promised to call back.
