A Police Inspector attached to OPG Head Office in Ikeja Lagos has reportedly committed suicide.

A report said the Inspector, whose name it did not disclose, hanged himself on Friday, October 18, at his residence located at Iteswaju CDA off Eri Road, Isiwu, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The SUPREME, a security-focused portal, quoted an unnamed dependable source as disclosing that the son of the late Inspector “reported the death of his father at Imota Police Station in Ikorodu at about 2pm on Friday.

“The son was said to have informed the police that his later father sent him out on an errand, and as he returned, he saw his father’s body dangling from a ceiling fan. He was said to have called out to his father, but his deceased did not respond, and it dawned on him that his father had committed suicide,” The SUPREME reported.

It disclosed that “Police detectives, led by a DSP (names withheld), were said to have visited the residence of the late Inspector, where they removed his corpse to a mortuary for autopsy.”

Police authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
