…as Jude denies Peter’s fraud claim
Jude Okoye, the music executive, has rejected allegations of financial impropriety made by Peter Okoye, his brother and singer popularly known as Mr P, describing the claims as misleading and emotionally manipulative.
The dispute marks the latest chapter in the ongoing rift between Peter, Paul and Jude, the Okoye brothers, who founded the now-defunct music group Psquare.
Last week, Peter took to Instagram to accuse Jude of excluding him from certain proceeds from their music catalogue, including a specific sum of $25,000.
He also alleged that he is not a signatory to one of the bank accounts used for collecting their music royalties.
Jude, however, denied any fraudulent activity, insisting that all income from their musical projects was shared equally among the three brothers.
He provided what he described as bank documents and email correspondences to support his defence, claiming that Peter had received his share of royalties directly.
He further alleged that the accusations are a ploy to pressure him amid ongoing legal proceedings, arguing that Peter is deliberately avoiding cross-examination in court “because he knows he has failed”.
Jude also presented evidence of dollar-denominated royalty payments dating back to 2012, which he said were always split into three equal parts.
“Jude plus Paul Okoye, $25,782. Peter Okoye, $12,891. Peter’s money was sent to him directly. At the same time, Jude’s and Paul’s money was sent to the Northside Entertainment account that they have in their system. Peter knows this. The EFCC has trashed it,” he said.
“He put it in front of the EFCC. It was cleared. Why is he bringing it to the media? If it is very important to him. He is going to spin emotional blackmail. To manipulate. To make me look like a bad person. Trying to fuse in Paul.
“Because that is the only way he can now see Paul and use them together. That is why, no matter how it happens, he has to put Paul inside the picture, under manipulative tactics.
“You are not signatory to the account. This is FCMB mandate that has been open till date. He said I told him that it is going to take three and a half months to send the catalogue. On the 16th of October, 2022, Peter called me, and I wanted the Psquare Records catalogue, back-end, and accounting.
“He said he never received dollars as a royalty for Psquare. As you can see, this is the email they sent on June 30th.
“And the amount due was $12,991.47. And this is how the money was later split into three. You can see here. This comes to $4,330.47 each. Northside Music Inc., $4,330. Peter Okoye, $4,300.
“He was screaming like he got a huge amount of hundreds of thousands of dollars from the royalty. I am not allowed to say much about it. But I’m going to divulge a little so you can see that this guy has been receiving dollars from 2012.
“In February 2017, we were paid twice to the Northside Entertainment Account, which is $16,034 and $12,689. They amount to about $28,000. As you can see, within a short period, Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, and Jude Okoye kept and split the money into three. And he said he has never received dollars.”
The Okoye brothers first parted ways in 2017 following disagreements over Jude’s role as their manager.
In November 2021, they ended their five-year feud and held their first headline concert in December.
However, in 2024, Paul confirmed that the group had split again. He alleged that Peter was involved in his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Peter later raised concerns about alleged irregularities in their former management, leading to renewed public exchanges and legal disputes within the family.
Earlier in April, Peter announced that he had officially changed his birth date to November 30. Last week, Peter also accused Paul of trying to damage his reputation.
