Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has announced that no ransom was paid for the release of the abducted 24 Kebbi schoolgirls.
The governor said this while confirming the release of the abducted schoolgirls of Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
The schoolgirls were reported to have regained their freedom through a non-kinetic approach adopted by the Federal Government.
Speaking on their release, Governor Idris said neither the federal nor state government paid any ransom.
“No ransom was paid. The Kebbi State Government did not pay a kobo, and neither did the Federal Government. The rescue was achieved solely through the efforts of the security agencies,” he stated.
Idris disclosed that the girls would be returned to their parents on Wednesday and expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his concern and for directing security agencies to ensure the rescue of the girls.
