Mother of two found dead five days after 54th birthday

A 54-year-old woman, Olakunbi Adene, has been killed in her residence by some unknown assailants, five days after celebrating her birthday.

The lifeless body of the deceased, who is a popular caterer in the Ondo state and CEO of Country Kitchen, was discovered on her bed in her residence at Oda Road, Akure South Local Council of Ondo State.

According to a resident within the axis where the incident happened, the mother of two was hale and hearty with no sign of illness before she was murdered.

The resident, who craved anonymity, said: “Five days ago, she marked her 54th birthday, during which she entertained visitors in her residence.

“The deceased, who was a social media enthusiast, posted many of her pictures on Facebook, while there were several comments from family and friends congratulating her, only to find her dead some days later.”

The deceased’s husband, Dele Adene, who described the demise of his wife as a rude shock, said, “I was told that my wife’s corpse was found on her bed in a pool of blood, which showed she was hacked to death.

“I cannot believe that no arrests have been made until the moment of talking to you. I feel the suspects should have been arrested.

“Her phone should be tracked, and I don’t know how dwellers in the building did not know such a thing happened in a house with four flats.”

Also, the deceased’s daughter, Tejumade, said it was the caretaker of the house where her mother lived who called to inform her that she was found dead in a pool of blood.

“I came back from the church and was trying her line, but it was switched off. I later received a call from my mother’s brother, who called to inform me that my mother had been killed.”

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who confirmed the incident, said, “I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing.”
