Ephesians 5:25 NLT

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her.

Jesus paid the price with his life so that the church ( his bride) doesn’t suffer the consequences of sins.

Ephesians 5:26 NLT

to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.

A woman depends on the man to provide what she is lacking.

The bride (church) lacks righteousness and Jesus the husband provided righteousness.

Ephesians 5:27 NLT

He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.

When God sees you, he won’t see any spot or wrinkle. That is what Christ did for His bride.

Hebrews 10:10 NLT

For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.”

When the bride is trying to be holy by her works, she is telling the husband that he cannot provide.

Ephesians 5:31 NLT

As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.

We leave the law who was our guardian until Christ came. When we marry Christ we become one with Him. As Jesus is holy so also you have become holy because your married to Christ.

That’s why God hates divorce because He can never leave us.

Ephesians 5:32 NLT

This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.

Colossians 1:20 NLT

and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

This is the dowry Jesus paid for us.

Colossians 1:22 NLT

Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

This came as a result of the marriage between Jesus and the church . It is what Christ provided for you.

How did you become holy? Jesus provided what I did not have.

Revelation 19:7-8 NIV

Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

That’s why a bride wears white, that is the robe of righteousness.

Revelation 19:7-8 AMP

Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us give Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb has come [at last] and His bride (the redeemed) has prepared herself.” She has been permitted to dress in fine linen, dazzling white and clean—for the fine linen signifies the righteous acts of the saints [the ethical conduct, personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character of believers].

The bride was given a robe of righteousness by the groom even though she has no good deeds of her own.

Isaiah 61:10 NLT

I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.

This robe is what gives you salvation.

Matthew 22:12-13 NLT

Friend,’ he asked, ‘how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?’ But the man had no reply. Then the king said to his aides, ‘Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The problem here is that he was not properly dressed to come before the presence of God I.e. for coming to the wedding without wearing the robe of righteousness . there will be weeping and gnashing. It is this robe that saves us . We wear it by faith. When we wear this garment there is no more shame.

Luke 15:22 NLT

But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet.

This is the prodigal son who was rebellious. But the father brought out the robe as a symbol of his acceptance back (salvation).

Revelation 7:13 NLT

Then one of the twenty-four elders asked me, “Who are these who are clothed in white? Where did they come from?

The husband’s job is to cloth you so you won’t suffer shame and condemnation.

Revelation 7:14 NLT

And I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.” Then he said to me, “These are the ones who died in the great tribulation. They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.

The blood of the Lamb was the price paid for their robe to be washed clean.

Revelation 7:15 NLT

That is why they stand in front of God’s throne and serve him day and night in his Temple. And he who sits on the throne will give them shelter.

This is the only way to stand before the throne of God because their robe is washed with the blood of the lamb. It is this robe of righteousness that saves you and it was Jesus the husband provided

Isaiah 54:5 NLT

For your Creator will be your husband; the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.

Jude 1:24 NLT

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.

This is the effect of marrying Jesus.
