Marriage and Salvation
Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the Church. Marriage, in God’s eyes, is a picture of salvation. God created Eve for Adam—not because he would be lonely, but because Adam was incomplete without her.
In the same way, Christ completes the believer.

Isaiah 61:10 NLT:
“I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness…”
The Wedding Robe
The robe is provided by the husband—it’s not self-made. It must be pure and white, representing righteousness and purity.
All other garments (self-righteousness) are filthy. The robe represents righteousness through salvation.
God recognises the robe of salvation—it is the righteousness of Christ. When married to Christ, we exchange our name for His and receive His righteousness.
Like the prodigal son, the Father said, “Bring the finest robe.” It symbolises acceptance and restoration.
Revelation 19:7–9 NLT:
“The time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb… She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”
Union with Christ and Righteousness
John 17:23 NLT:
“I am in them, and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity…”
Colossians 1:20 NLT:
“Through him God reconciled everything to himself… by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”
Isaiah 61:1 NLT:
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me… to proclaim that captives will be released.”
To be united with Christ is to be clothed in His righteousness. Your past (sin, shame) no longer defines you. The Holy Spirit now guards and guides you. The garment of salvation covers your shame. You can now stand before God without guilt.
Grace and Salvation
Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. Those who reject the invitation are unworthy—not because they didn’t try, but because they refused the gift.
Free of blemish and fault. Any other robe is self-righteousness. Anyone who wears the robe of Christ is covered and accepted.
Revelation 7:9–14 NLT:
“They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.”
The robe fills you with salvation. Lawyers cannot go to court without being robed; likewise, believers cannot stand before God without the robe of righteousness. Every believer must wear the robe of righteousness—dipped in the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 5 NLT:
“Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean…”
Summary:
Salvation is a divine gift—unearned, unrevoked, and complete in Christ. The robe of righteousness represents that gift. Marriage mirrors our union with Christ.
Accepting the robe is accepting salvation, restoration, and eternal life.
