72 lawyers shortlisted for SAN title

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee has shortlisted 72 lawyers for the conferment of the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2025.

This was disclosed in a public notice signed by the LPPC Secretary and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi, on Tuesday.

The list, published ahead of the final interview stage, consists of 57 advocate applicants and 15 academics, shortlisted in line with the committee’s guidelines.

The LPPC has called on members of the public to submit comments on the integrity, competence, and reputation of the shortlisted applicants.

“Every complaint must be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to by the author before a superior court of record in Nigeria or before a Notary Public and must be in twenty (20) copies, which must be received,” the notice read.

The committee clarified that being shortlisted does not guarantee conferment of the SAN rank.

The final list of successful candidates will be announced after the conclusion of all assessments and interviews.
