Lagos State to prosecute celebrant, four others for environmental nuisance

Five individuals, including the celebrant and the event planner, have been arrested and will be prosecuted by the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce team for “obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance.”

The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, through the microblogging platform X, disclosed that the suspects were arrested for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during a birthday celebration.

Sharing photos, the commissioner further noted that the celebrant, event planner and musician will be tried in court by the laws of the State, reiterating that no one is above the law.

The statement reads: “On Saturday, 19th October, 2024, the Lagos State Government arrested individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician, and others, for obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance.

 “The individuals arrested are:

1. Omolara Ajetumobi – Event Planner

2. Ogundare Olubunmi – Celebrant

3. Ayodele Busuyi – Musician

4. Owoeye Adedayo – Sound Engineer

5. Akinola Akinkunmi – Vendor

“The suspects were arrested for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest, Ikoyi during a birthday celebration. They will be tried in court in accordance with the laws of the State.

 “The Lagos State Government reiterates that no one is above the law and will not be permitted to disregard State regulations.”
