…for more democracy dividends
Two days to the Lagos State local government elections in all its 20 councils and 37 development Areas, Lagosians have been urged to vote APC to continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy and increased infrastructural developments.
This call was made by a top APC chieftain, Convener and Apex leader Progressives Action Forum (PAF), Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, at Press conference held in Lagos on Wednesday at Onikan Youth Centre.
He appealed to all Lagosians – men, women, the elderly, the youth, market leaders, transport unions, professionals, artisans to come out and vote massively for the APC.
The title of the Conference is: “Strengthening Our Grassroots, Advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda” and attended by the Forum’s State Coordinator, Hon. Shola Opeyemi Taiwo, it’s members, APC Faithful, Leaders, Youths and Stakeholders.
He appealed to the electorate that their votes were their voices and endorsement of progress and infrastructural developments for the state, particularly the local government areas.
Said Onitiri: “We are gathered here today with great purpose, determination, and unshakeable loyalty to our great party —the APC and to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to ensuring overwhelming victory for our party in the forthcoming Local Government and LCDA elections scheduled to take place on Friday, July 12, 2025.”
Stressing the importance of the Council polls in the state, Onitiri further told the gathering: “At this juncture, it is important to underscore the critical role of the local government system in Nigeria’s democratic structure.
“The local government is not only the third tier of government in our federal arrangement; it is indeed the closest to the people. It is where policies touch the lives of citizens most directly —from education to healthcare, market administration, road infrastructure, youth engagement, women and youth empowerment waste management, and even security.
He stressed that as a grassroots-focused Forum, “we in the Progressives Action Forum understand that development must be people-centered and driven from the bottom-up.
“That is why we are taking these elections seriously because they are about the empowerment of our people, the deepening of democracy, and the consolidation of the Renewed Hope Agenda as championed by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Onitiri paid a glowing tribute to the State leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) “under the capable, wise, and strategic guidance” of Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
He also commended what he described as the successful conduct of the party primaries across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs which he claimed, was not only peaceful and democratic, but also reflected the deep-rooted internal structure and organizational strength of the APC in Lagos State.
The PAF Convener pointed out that the process produced candidates who were credible, tested, and trusted to take the vision of the party to the grassroots.

“The level of preparedness we are witnessing today from campaign strategy to logistics, party unity to voter outreach is a testament to the fact that our great party is poised for clean sweep victories across the state.
“As with every democratic process, it is normal and expected that multiple aspirants will show interest in a particular political office. That is the beauty of democracy.
“However, we must always remember that in every contest, only one candidate can be chosen at a time. Therefore, I use this platform to appeal to all our members, the aspirants who were not successful during the primaries to remain loyal to the party. This is the time to show character, maturity, and loyalty to the cause,” Onitiri declared.
He added that the APC members must not take this election lightly.
