*Sister tackles: “How did you raise us? I washed your menses pants”
Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress, Dupe Jayesimi, has opened up about her struggles with infertility and the desperate measures she took in an attempt to conceive.
In a recent interview on Biola Adebayo’s official YouTube channel, the actress revealed that she once had a relationship with a married man solely because she wanted to become a mother.
Jayesimi, who has been in the movie industry for decades, shared her emotional journey, starting with her marriage in 1988. She disclosed that she was pregnant at the time of her wedding but suffered a miscarriage shortly after.
Since then, she struggled to conceive and underwent medical procedures in the hopes of having a child. Doctors recommended surgery, assuring her that it would increase her chances of pregnancy.
However, after the surgery, her marriage took a turn for the worse. Her husband became emotionally distant, disappearing for months without providing any financial support. To her shock, she soon discovered that her husband had impregnated another woman.
The pain of betrayal and childlessness pushed Jayesimi into depression, leading her to turn to alcohol for solace.
Desperate to fulfill her dream of becoming a mother, she entered a relationship with a wealthy man, an Alhaji, who was already married. Eventually, she conceived but suffered severe complications. Medical examinations revealed an ectopic pregnancy, dashing her hopes once again.

In her words; “Few weeks after I left my husband’s house, I discovered that another woman had moved in and was already pregnant for my husband. I was devastated and cried for days.
This emotional pain led me to start drinking alcohol because it helped me sleep. After that, I met an Alhaji who was very supportive. After several attempts, I finally got pregnant again, but I often felt severe pain. A scan later revealed that it was an ectopic pregnancy and it had to be removed. Later, I did everything possible to get pregnant but none worked.
I even had IVF twice but it failed. Unfortunately, Alhaji’s wife started troubling me. Eventually, I ended the relationship and never got pregnant again. I only had an affair with the Alhaji because I wanted to get pregnant and be called a mother. I never intended to marry him.”
Dupe Jaiyesimi’s sister calls her out: “How did you raise us? I washed your menses pants”
Nigerian actress Dupe Jayesimi’s sister, Tope Jayesimi, has publicly called her out over her recent interview.
The veteran actress recently appeared on Biola Bayo’s Talk to B podcast, where she shared emotional details about her life and being childless at 60.
During the interview, Dupe Jayesimi expressed disappointment that the children she raised did not support her in her later years. This statement upset her siblings, prompting Tope to respond online.
In a viral video, Tope Jayesimi questioned how the actress could claim to have raised them when they all grew up together in their grandmother’s house in Ibadan.
According to Tope Jayesimi, Dupe never considered her or their siblings as family, let alone children she raised, because she never believed they would amount to anything in life.

“How did you raise us? We baba’s children that also makes you bear the Jayesimi name. How did you take care of us then? You know that till now that you’re speaking on this program, you never saw us as your relatives, never saw us as your siblings or as your children. If you saw us as your children and counted us as your siblings, this is me Tope talking on behalf of everybody, that you saw me Tope, Adeoluwa, Biodun, Esther, that you saw us as your siblings or your children, you won’t come to social media to say all these things you said.
“But one thing I always say is there are always repercussions for actions. That they brought us to you to care for us and you thought you could maltreat us because you thought we would never amount to anything. Can you see the result? You thought we would be nobodies.”
Tope Jayesimi further described their relationship with Dupe Jayesimi, claiming they were treated like maids. She alleged that she even washed the actress’s period-stained underwear.
Tope also alleged that Dupe Jayesimi sold their late father’s hectares of land, which were meant to fund their education, and kept the proceeds for herself, among other accusations.
In her words; “Can you remember that time at home, I would be the one to wash your menses pants, when you want to eat, we behave like your househelps in the house where we all lived together, that almost every month when you go for shows, whenever you come back, fear would grip us. You have forgotten how you raised us. When our father died, what did you do to us? How did you raise us? We are now people today. Please help us ask her, our father’s land that was meant to be used to train us to school, please what happened to the land after relatives took her to the police that time? She sold the hectares of land, this same Aunty Dupe sold everything. All our late father’s entitlements as a professor in Ajayi Crowther University, she was the one who collected everything. You have brought this matter to the public, a lot is on ground.”
