When a case is still pending, it means the judge has not made a verdict. You’re not sure of the verdict. This is how salvation is presented. In our case, this is not the case.
Romans 3:27 NLT
Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith.
What is the meaning of accepted? To be accepted is to be acquitted. Those who have been accepted, have been acquitted. The case has already been decided and you have been acquitted. That means no case is pending. Those who aren’t acquitted are in custody and can be detained. For the person that accepted Christ, there is no case pending because you have been acquitted.
Acquitted means to free (someone) from a criminal charge by a verdict of not guilty. Many people believe it is only when you die that God will pronounce this judgment over you.
What is the objective of being acquitted?
John 3:18 NLT
There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him.
There is no judgement waiting for you because you have been acquitted. When God acquits you no one can bring a charge against you . There is no judgement waiting for you.
Romans 4:8 NIV
Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.
Why? Because there is no judgement even before you die, there is nothing you do that God will count against you. Why? Because right now, God sees you as b acquitted.
John 5:24 AMP
the believer does not come into judgment and condemnation, but has passed [over] from death into life.
Why? Because you have been acquitted.
2 Corinthians 5:19 NLT
no longer counting people’s sins against them.
Your status has changed.
Those who have accepted the good news, God will no longer count their sins against them. If God counts your sins, then there is judgment waiting for you.
Ephesians 2:8 AMP
For it is by grace you have been saved, actually delivered from judgement of God
You have been saved meaning you have been actually delivered from God’s judgment . You’re no longer trying to do anything to be saved. You can die as you are not and go to heaven because you are already saved.
1 Thessalonians 1:10 NLT
And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven—Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment
Because there is no judgement and because you’ve been acquitted , you can look forward to the coming of Christ. The scripture makes it clear that you’ve been rescued from the terror of the coming judgement.
Philippians 3:20
But we are citizens of heaven
Now you are a citizen of heaven. A citizen is someone who is qualified to go to their country without any requirement. That means your status has changed.
Job 33:27
I have sinned and perverted what was right; yet I did not get what I deserved.
This is the position of a true believer.
Romans 5:16 NLT
but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.
Psalm 103:10 KJV
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
Why are you acquitted?
Romans 5:9 KJV
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
The blood of Jesus is the premise of your acquittal. God sees your sin but He passes over because of the Blood of Jesus. This is the basis of your acquittal. God has been appeased; He has been propitiated on your behalf. Hallelujah!
