The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has charged newly graduated Recruit Constables to embrace empathy, fairness, and dedication as they begin their policing careers.
Delivering the charge during the Passing Out Parade (POP) of 205 Recruit Constables at the Police Training School, Iperu Remo, Ogun State, the IGP, represented by Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, said the recruits must exhibit courage, loyalty, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
Egbetokun noted that the six-month intensive training the recruits underwent had tested their endurance, discipline, and determination. He explained that the curriculum emphasized community partnership, intelligence-led policing, respect for human rights, and the judicious use of authority.
“With the graduation of this batch, the Nigeria Police Force has passed out 20,000 Constables under my leadership,” the IGP said. “Presidential approval has also been secured for the recruitment of an additional 30,000 Constables over the next few years, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to bridging manpower gaps in the Force and enhancing national security.”
The IGP disclosed that the newly graduated officers would be deployed to their states of origin in line with the community-oriented policing policy, a strategy aimed at fostering local trust, improving intelligence gathering, and strengthening collaboration between police and host communities.

Earlier, the Commandant of the Police Training School, ACP Aderemi Yusuf, psc, commended the recruits for their commitment and discipline, stressing that they were trained in professional studies, legal and liberal studies, drills, musketry, and combat training. He emphasized the importance of respecting human rights, rejecting corruption, and upholding professionalism.
Among the 205 constables drawn from the 20 local government areas of Ogun State, outstanding individuals were recognized: RC Oludare Olubusola, RC Farombi Victor, RC Sotunde Kolade, and RC Akinwande Tomiwa for academic excellence; RC Akinsoji Suliat for parade drills; and RC Ishmael Gbenga and RC Olukoya Olubukola for leadership.
The event attracted distinguished guests, including AIG Olusola Subar (rtd), Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Security; Navy Captain O.A. Adesiyan, Commandant, Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Abeokuta; and Brigadier General G.U. Nwamba, Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, represented by Major A.S. Atunwa.
Others in attendance were CP Edward Ajogun (rtd), Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor; CP Ayodele Sonubi (rtd), Executive Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Law Enforcement; Alhaji Asimi Jamiu, Chairman of Ikenne Local Government; and heads of other security agencies in Ogun State, including Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (rtd), leader of the Amotekun Corps in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command congratulated the new officers and urged them to uphold discipline, integrity, and service to humanity as they commence active duty.
