Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) in his administration with immediate effect.

The decision, announced on Monday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, was described as part of efforts to improve efficiency and service delivery in the state.

The government expressed appreciation to the affected aides for their contributions and wished them well in their future endeavours.

According to the statement, Aiyedatiwa is set to appoint about 1,000 new aides drawn from the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The move, it said, is aimed at strengthening coordination at the grassroots and injecting fresh capacity into the administration.

The development marks a major shake-up in the governor’s political structure, coming after a series of appointments made since he assumed office in December 2023 following the death of former governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Notably, in September 2024, Aiyedatiwa appointed about 344 political aides, comprising 28 SSAs and 316 SAs, spread across the state’s 18 local government areas and 203 wards to strengthen governance and grassroots engagement.

The sweeping changes signal a recalibration of the governor’s political machinery ahead of evolving governance priorities in the state.
