Peter Obi, a key member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced his plan to run for president in the 2027 general elections.
He made this known while speaking at a campaign event for ADC candidates in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, held at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Obi emphasized that he is aiming for the top position and does not want a secondary role in the party’s future plans. He said the AMAC election is important to his political goals and urged party members and residents to support the ADC candidate.

“Support us in AMAC; it will help me. Your support is critical. I am contesting as number one. When I return, you will see. I assure you,” Obi said.
Supporters, especially members of the Obidient Movement, are pressing the ADC leadership to make Obi the party’s presidential candidate for 2027.
However, ADC is also considering other well-known politicians for the presidential ticket, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.
