Leader, Badagry Football Coaches Council (BFCC), Coach Steven Degboe has tipped the Super Eagles to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Degboe spoke on Monday, ahead of the Eagles’ semi-final clash with hosts Morocco on Wednesday.

A goal apiece from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams helped dominant Eagles beat Algeria 2-0 in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Degboe praised the team’s performance against the Desert Foxes, noting that a similar fate awaits hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat on Wednesday, January 14.

He said, “Morocco are definitely playing well in this tournament and their performance in the last World Cup is still fresh in my memory.

“However, they are meeting a new and technically-improved Super Eagles, who I expect will get the job done on Wednesday.

“In fact, this new Super Eagles have the capacity to win AFCON 2025 and dominate the African continent for years because of the youthful age of the core squad.”

He noted that Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle deserved commendation for the team’s improved performance.

Degboe said, “Eric Chelle has totally proved doubters wrong.

“When he was appointed, many people doubted his ability probably because of his African origin, but the team is playing as a cohesive force under his tutelage and even the blind can see that this is the best Super Eagles team in a long while.”

He added, “This should show African nations that indigenous coaches can stand toe-to-toe with their foreign counterparts.”

The Technical Chairman, Badagry Divisional Football Association appreciated the Chairman, Lagos State Football Association, Hajji Gafar Liameed for encouraging grassroot coaches to upskill.

“Hundreds of grassroot coaches are now applying to the National Institute for Sports (NIS) to improve their knowledge of the game because of his support,” Degboe said.
