Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajiudeen (Iyan Zazzau), has mourned the Zazzau Prince, Alhaji Umar Shehu Idris (Dan-Isa Zazzau), who died in Zaria after a brief illness, Tuesday.

The disclosure is contrary earlier report that the prince died in an auto crash along the Abuja-Kaduna express way.

Speaker Abbas in a statement issued by his media aide, Musa Abdullahi Kirshi, Wednesday, expressed shock over the sudden and timely death of the royal prince.

The late Umar died barely 40 days after his biological mother, Hajiya Habibah Shehu-Idris passed on.

Until his death, Umar was the Assistant Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council.

The speaker, who is also a prince in the emirate and holds the traditional title of Iyan Zazzau, described Umar’s death as unfortunate and painful.

“The death is devastating. It is shocking and very painful. Umar was a brilliant young prince who served the emirate wholeheartedly,” he said.

The late Umar Shehu was buried in Zaria in accordance to Islamic injunction on Wednesday.
