In an alarming display of rising insecurity, bandits on Monday, September 9, attacked the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Two nurses and an unspecified number of patients were reportedly abducted.
The attack, according to gwg.ng occurred around 9:00 am. The heavily armed bandits initially targeting the nearby Government Day Secondary School but moved to the hospital and kidnapped the nurses and patients after discovering the school was empty.
Musa Alhassan, leader of a local vigilante group, explained the sequence of events, stating, “They came looking for students, but when they saw the school was vacant, they went straight to the health centre and began abducting people.” The armed attackers reportedly wielded guns and machetes as they forcefully took their victims, including the two female nurses.

The exact number of patients kidnapped along with the two nurses by the bandits remains unclear.
According to gwg.ng neither the Kaduna State Police Command nor government officials have released an official statement regarding the incident.
This abduction adds to the growing list of violent incidents in the region. Notably, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a medical doctor, remains in captivity months after being abducted by bandits in the same region. The continued attacks on healthcare facilities and schools in Kaduna highlight the deteriorating security situation and the vulnerability of essential services in the state.
As security concerns mount, residents are calling for urgent government intervention to address the escalating banditry and protect lives and properties in affected communities.
