The remains of the murdered pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Grace of Comfort Parish, Omitototo, Ile Ife, Most Senior Evangelist Morris Olagbaju Fadehan, who was brutally murdered on the church altar by his assistant, will be buried in Ile Ife on Friday, April 5, 2014.
The burial will be preceded on Thursday, April 4, with a service of songs at the Omisore Event Field, Mokuro Idi Ita NTA Road, Ile Ife.
Fadehan was allegedly murdered by one of his assistants, Lekan Ogundipe, on the church’s altar as a result of a misunderstanding between him and Ogundipe.
The deceased was said to have reprimanded Ogundipe and collected the keys to the church from him after the suspect allegedly assaulted a prophetess of the church who rebuffed his love advances.
Neighbours said the deceased was like a father to the suspect, having taken him under his care since Ogundipe was 17 years old. “The pastor was the one who sent Ogundipe to the polytechnic where he obtained his OND. Even the deceased children send the suspect money and take care of him before this incident happened”, one of the church neighbours said.
They wondered what must have happened that made Ogundipe kill his benefactor.
Ogundipe was said to have seized the opportunity of the pastor praying on the altar alone to attack him, puncturing his eyes and stabbing him severally on his head, neck and other parts of his body until he died.
To cover up his tracks, the suspect was said to have poured petrol from the church’s generator on the deceased body and set the body ablaze.
Thereafter, he ran to the church founder’s house, saying that the church was on fire and the pastor was in danger.
What gave him out were the blood stains on his white sutana and wounds on the deceased body. But the church founder played along with the suspect until the police were called in and he was arrested.
Osun State Police Command’s PRO, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident and said the command had commenced investigation into the matter. However, the suspect is still in police custody at Osogbo.
