Ohanaeze Ndigbo president, Iwuanyanwu, dies at 81

President-General of pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and popular businessman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, is dead.

Born in September 1942, Chief Iwuanyanwu died on Thursday in Abuja after a brief illness at the age of 81 years, less than 2 months from clocking 82.

His son, Jude Iwuanyanwu, confirmed the death of the elder statesman in a statement.

The late Chief Iwuanyanwu was a celebrated icon of Ndigbo, and was active in multiple business ventures, including real estate, manufacturing, hospitality and publisher of a foremost media brand – Champion Newspapers.

Chief Iwuanyanwu was elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on April 20, 2023, following the death of  Prof George Obiozor

He is the second President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to die in office after Prof George Obiozor.
