Gunmen have abducted four students from the Government Secondary School (GSS) in Olowa, Dekina LGA of Kogi state.
The principal of the school and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc staff member were also abducted during the incident.
The attack occurred around 5:25pm on Tuesday while candidates were writing the ongoing NECO examinations, according to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region.
The assailants reportedly stormed the school, seized the victims, and fled to an unknown location before security operatives could intervene.
A combined team of security personnel has since launched a search-and-rescue operation, deploying intelligence assets and conducting “bush-combing exercises” across the area in a bid to locate the kidnappers.
Sources said one of the abducted students has already been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims.
Security agencies are also intensifying surveillance and intelligence gathering as investigations continue and efforts to apprehend the perpetrators gather pace.
