Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy Senate President, says he will be supporting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2027 election.
On May 28, Omo-Agege joined the NDC and declared his intention to contest for the Delta central senatorial seat in the 2027 elections after resigning his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Omo-Agege said his loyalty now lies with the NDC, though he continues to back key economic reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
“Who is my presidential candidate in 2027? Of course it’s Peter Obi,” he said.
“Have I endorsed Peter Obi for the presidency in 2027? Of course I’ve endorsed him… I’m a member of the NDC now.”
Omo-Agege described himself as a “loyal political animal,” noting that he gave total support to former President Muhammadu Buhari and later to Tinubu while in the APC.
“You see, I’m a political animal. Very, very loyal political animal. Wherever I am, I show and display my loyalty,” he said.

“When I was in APC, I gave my all. I supported the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari because he was my party leader, and I gave my all. I supported him 100 percent. The loyalty was not 99.9 percent.
“When President Bola Tinubu came on board, we fought for him. We supported him 100 per cent. My loyalty was total. Likewise, now that I’ve moved to the ADC, you can take it to the bank that’s my loyalty to the party and to the presidential candidate.”
The former deputy senate president said the APC left him and over 240,000 of his supporters in Delta state, prompting his exit.
He recounted his strong performance in the 2023 governorship election in Delta against Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that the governor is scared of contesting against him again.
Omo-Agege alleged that after Oborevwori joined the APC, he sidelined party members during party congresses in violation of a presidential directive for a 60-40 sharing formula between old and new members. Omo-Agege said he is confident in his senatorial ambitions on the NDC platform, declaring himself the winner of the Delta central primary.
