British Airways on Friday denied boarding to 58 passengers scheduled to travel from Abuja to London after a faulty aircraft door forced the airline to keep several seats unoccupied for safety reasons.

According to the spokesperson for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, the incident occurred when it was discovered that seats located near the defective door could not be used.

As a result, 28 affected passengers opted to return home, while 30 accepted hotel accommodation provided by the airline.

Achimugu said arrangements have been made to airlift them tomorrow morning, and they are entitled to compensation.

He advised passengers facing similar delays to contact NCAA Consumer Protection Officers at the terminal to ensure their rights to care are upheld.
