A group, Lagos Prominent Indigenes has applauded what it called a befitting state burial accorded the former president, Late Muhammadu Buhari earlier this week by the Tinubu Administration.
In a statement in Lagos yesterday signed by elder statesman, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, the Group emphasised that the burial arrangements showed the true love that existed between President Tinubu and the departed leader.
“Apart from showing that Tinubu is a statesman, committed nationalist of great repute and patriot the seamless manner the burial arrangements were conducted further fostered genuine unity amongst all the entire tribes of Nigeria”, the statement stressed.
Onitiri, who is the coordinator of the Group, took cognizance of the speed with which Tinubu dispatched the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to London to accompany Buhari’s body to Nigeria which the Group described as highly commendable and remarkable.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari died in a London hospital on the 13th July 2025 at the age of 82 Years and was buried at his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
President Bola Tinubu directed his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila to travel to Britain and accompany the remains of the former President back to Nigeria.
A week-long period of national mourning including a day public holiday was declared to enable all Nigerians nationwide mourn Buhari’s departure.
Tinubu also summoned a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in honour of Buhari, with all national flags flown at half mast, culminating in a well organised state burial.
The Lagos Prominent Indigenes extended their condolences to President Tinubu, the Buhari family and all Nigerians, praying that the Almighty Allah grants the soul of the former president aljanah friddaus.
