President Donald Trump announced in a Monday evening post on Truth Social that Israel and Iran have agreed in principle to a ceasefire.

“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!

“Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL.”

In line with Trump’s post, this is what would be the expected timeline for what will happen over the next few hours:

12:00 a.m. ET Tuesday — Iran will begin observing cease-fire

12:00 p.m. ET Tuesday — Israel will begin observing cease-fire

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

12:00 a.m. ET Wednesday — State of hostilities between Israel and Iran cease

There has been no confirmation yet from either Israel or Iran that these or any cease-fire terms will be honored.
