Ayra Starr edges out Rema, Tyla to win ‘Best International Act’ at 2025 BET Awards

Ayra Starr, a Nigerian singer, and Kendrick Lamar, a US rapper, were among the biggest winners at the 2025 BET Awards.

This year’s edition was held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Kevin Hart, the American actor and comedian, hosted the event.

The BET Awards are an American show established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.

Out of his 10 nominations, Lamar won five awards, including ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Best Collaboration’, ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artiste’, ‘Video of the Year’, and ‘Video Director of the Year’.

From her three nominations, Starr won the ‘Best International Act’ after slugging it out with Rema and the South African singer Tyla. SZA won ‘Best Female R&B/pop Artiste’ while Chris Brown snagged the ‘Best Male R&B/pop Artiste’.
