A 16-year-old boy, Ayibanua Timipre, has reportedly died by suicide in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday when the teenager’s lifeless body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his father’s house.
Timipre, believed to be from the Igbomotoru community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, was reportedly discovered with the rope still fastened to the fan.
Although the reason behind his actions remains unclear, some online reports speculate it may have been linked to alleged punishment from his parents after he was accused of stealing N27,000.

However, this claim has not been officially confirmed.
The deceased was said to be an apprentice learning mobile phone repairs in the community and celebrated his 16th birthday just days earlier, on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
The spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that an investigation had been launched.
“It was confirmed a 16-year-old boy committed suicide in Yenagoa, but the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
When asked about the alleged theft of N27,000, Mohammed responded, “I’m not aware of this. The investigation is still ongoing.”
