At least 20 soldiers were left seriously injured after a suspected drunk driver rammed his vehicle into them during a drill at the Myoung Barracks in the Yaba area of Lagos.
The incident happened just outside the barracks as the column of soldiers took part in an early morning drill on Friday.
The car, which was reportedly moving at full pelt, had three occupants.
One of the men in the car fled the scene after the incident, while the remaining two were beaten to a pulp.
A battered Toyota car was seen parked inside the barracks as groups of soldiers discussed the incident in hushed tones.
At least 20 soldiers are currently undergoing medical treatment at the military hospital in the barracks.
Some soldiers were seen limping outside the military hospital as a crowd of uniformed personnel formed.
It has not been confirmed whether soldiers died during the incident.

A couple of generals at the barracks refused to speak on the record and told this newspaper to forward all questions on the incident to the military headquarters.
Military authorities were yet to respond requests for comments when this story was published.
Onyema Nwachukwu, army spokesperson, did not respond to calls or text messages on the incident.
