The impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has faulted his removal by lawmakers.
Obasa, who spoke on his removal for the first time on Saturday, said it was important for the lawmakers to “follow constitutional procedure” to remove him as speaker.
The former speaker also debunked the allegations of corruption brought against him by the lawmakers during his removal, describing the alleged financial misappropriations as “impossible.”
“I am not disturbed, I am not afraid,” Obasa said of the “Developments that happened at the assembly.”

The former Speaker spoke to a crowd of supporters who were clad in pro-Obasa vests and caps, and had arrived in large numbers to show their solidarity at the Speaker’s Lodge, 47, Joel Ogunnaike Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.
Obasa was removed from his position and replaced by Mojisola Meranda, the former Deputy Speaker has since overseen two legislative sittings in his absence.
